Nelson Motorsports Releases 2026 Schedule

Bassett, VA - January 22nd, 2026

Nelson Motorsports has officially released its 2026 racing schedule, confirming the return of Carson Loftin as the team’s full-time driver. Fresh off earning 2025 CARS Tour Rookie of the Year honors, Loftin will once again compete full-time on the zMAX CARS Tour while also making a second bid for the prestigious Virginia Triple Crown.

2026 Nelson Motorsports Schedule

Loftin’s return to the Triple Crown comes after an impressive debut in 2025, where he finished third overall in the championship while driving for Nelson Motorsports. With a year of experience together, the team is poised to build on that success in 2026.

Geared up for a busy season behind the wheel of the #22 Late Model Stock, Carson shared that he's most excited for the low grip tracks on the schedule.

"Places like Coastal Plains Raceway and Florence Motor Speedway really suit my driving style coming from modifieds, and I feel like I learned a lot last year that we can build on. Anytime you go back to a track for a second season, you’re more confident, especially as a driver transitioning into a car I had never driven before last year. Now I have notes, experience, and a better idea of what I’m wanting to feel out of the car."

Entering his sophomore season, Loftin will continue to work alongside veteran crew chief Kyle Hood, as the duo looks to carry strong late-season momentum from 2025 into the new year. Influences around the shop of Nelson Motorsports have already played a big role in Loftin's development as a racecar driver.

"Working with Kyle Hood, Matthew Eshleman, and everyone at Nelson Motorsports has been huge for my development. Kyle and I really built our relationship as the season went on after he came in halfway through last season. We clicked instantly and work well together both at and away from the racetrack, which has helped our communication and made us better as a driver-crew chief combo. I’m extremely grateful for his belief in me from day 1 and what he brings to the program, and I’m excited to get to work with him for a full season. Matthew has pushed me to be more disciplined and to constantly work on myself, both mentally and physically, and that’s something I really needed last year. Focusing on my preparation race by race helped me build my confidence back. I feel way more prepared mentally going into this season than I did as a rookie. I'm thankful for the time Matthew and I had working together as he transitions to the next step in his career."

The 2026 season will kick off on February 21 at Coastal Plains Raceway, with the first Virginia Triple Crown event scheduled for June 27 at South Boston Speedway.

"I can’t thank Mr. Nelson enough for his belief in me and for giving me this opportunity, and I’m motivated to make the most of this season for him and for everyone on the team. Ready to get to work with these Henry County boys!"
